As some of you may have already seen, Sekai Project just announced at Anime Expo today that they’ve licensed and will release Dracu-Riot (as well as Senren Banka!). So here’s the low-down: they have been in contact with us recently, and have expressed interest in using our work. We haven’t actually signed a deal yet, but we have no reason to refuse if they’re asking for our help.
So yep, we’re going official. What does that mean?
- No more patch releases, of course.
- As with most fan translations gone official, this means that it will probably take a little longer to release, but hopefully not too much longer.
- It will be of a higher level of quality than if it was to remain a fan translation.
- You will still get your porn; they announced an 18+ version as well. I haven’t spent all that time recently transcribing moans and sound effects for nothing!
I understand many of you will feel jilted, and I understand that. However, for us, we are immensely proud of the work we’ve been putting into this project. What started as an ill-conceived attempt to hurriedly poop out a complete DR patch based on Insem’s earlier work has turned into a far more serious project. We have been completely overhauling the translation in order to make it something befitting of this hilarious and amazing moege. To me, it’s only fitting that we now take this project to the next level, to the stage it belongs on.
I imagine most status updates will now come from Sekai Project, so we won’t use this blog for Dracu-Riot much anymore. Thank you to all who have shown their support thus far.

You know, I never really understood your “jaded edit” comment. What’s a “jaded” edit? What makes that different from other edits? How does my editing qualify?
It’s been a lot of work, so I do hope it pays off and you and everyone else enjoys it. It’s been challenging but fun, and I’ve learned a lot from the experience, so I’ll be happy no matter what the outcome. 🙂
When it comes to VN translation, I think it’s interesting and fun to talk about what works and what doesn’t. We can just say “it’s good” or “it’s not good” and leave it at that, but that’s boring. I respect a few of the people behind some of the translations I’ve discussed before, and some of them are clearly more talented than me, but I don’t think that should disqualify one from engaging in a discussion. We should all be free to discuss what we do and don’t like in translation. You’re free to do the same with the SP Dracu-Riot release, of course. It’ll be interesting to see what everyone thinks of it.

Almost a year later, and still isn’t out. Just exactly what are you doing that it has taken you this long to release what was pretty much an almost done translation? Adding russian “slang” to Elina like Chuee added chav slang to D.D. (ChronoClock)?
Matters not, as the “accidentally” released patch is good enough to read the game, so many people have already done so.
The chances of the commercial release doing well are very low, not because of the patch however, but given SP’s poor sales record.

Yeah, things took a little longer than I would’ve liked to be honest. As of about two weeks ago, I finished the last of my edits on Dracu Riot and handed the scripts to Sekai Project. Since then, an English build has already been made by Doddler and SP’s QA has begun. It will hopefully not be much longer before the finished translation is released.
A lot of that time was just spent, well, editing. Insem’s Dracu-Riot TL was unedited, and it’s not exactly a small game, so a full editing pass took a lot of time. The original translation also had a lot of small mistakes that slowed down the process. Sequences that were readable on the surface but didn’t fully make sense if you stopped and scrutinized every line. Which I did. Fixing all of that was a pretty tiresome process. :p
I also edited for character voice, which means trying to let the characters’ personalities better come through in their dialogue. We didn’t do anything like D.D. in Chrono Clock though (which was not edited by chuee, by the way). I personally believe in a light touch when it comes to that kind of thing.
Overall, there were thousands (yes, thousands) of mistranslations we found and corrected and over 80% of the lines were changed. It was a pretty big overhaul that took a lot of effort, but release appears to be nearing rapidly now.

Thanks for going through the trouble of going through translating even if some people don’t really appreciate it as much as they should cause I’m sure it wasn’t easy to do and I’m sure there are times that makes you want to tell some that complain to do it themselves but really thanks for sticking with it this far. Not to mention those who helped in the group project have lives of their own so it is understandable too but really wish people could be nice and say thanks instead of whining about something they could take care of themselves. I got to hand it to you all that work in this project because that is no small feat and knowing the pressure of the crowd so we that care thank you greatly.

Ah man, what a shitty way to go my dude. Dangling the hope of your fans on a line this whole time with promises of “we’re almost done” for 2 whole years, then go on and say “we’re proud! Time to take it to the next level!”. Dude, it took you a few months to translate all the other routes except one and you have the audacity to say that you’re proud of your work? And FYI, Sekai is known for butchering all translations, in the “yeah, this is never gonna see the light of day” way for a long time, and yet you happily allow them to take over. If you had the slightest respect, not to the fans/readers, but to your work on the VN, you’ve said something else. Then again, why am i surprised.

I am seriously amazed how many idiots there are on this website. We got a “accidental” leak of the full patch which has a very playable quality if you ask me, so actually there’s nothing in this VN you can’t play right now. In addition to that, the company that has made the game as well as the translators who put in hours of effort are gonna get rewarded for their hard work. When the VN will finally be released, you can support everyone by officially buying it. Until then, you can just play through it with the patch.
Now everyone who still flames is just a f*cking bastard who is angry because he doesn’t want to pay for other peoples’ hard work and instead prefers to damage developers and translators alike. You CAN play the whole VN right now, so there’s nothing to complain about.
I for myself will be gladly buying the VN once it’s out and until then, I’ll just enjoy it the way it is now.

Hi, I’m actually translating Noble Works to my native language and I’m about to finish the proyect. This is all thanks to you guys.
Now, I would like to know if there is a possibility to access to the tools you were using it to translate Dracu Riot.
This last one is a game a I like very much, but since all the files inside the xp3 files are encypted, I can’t translate it.

This is not the place to ask, but I can guarantee its out there, you just have to look. The official release shouldn’t be too much longer, so it probably would be better just to wait!

We gave them the translation earlier in the year and it went through QA. Our involvement in the project is essentially over, so we don’t really have much information to share, even if we could.
